One of the best books I've ever read.

I love that the chapters switch from granddaughter's and grandmother's perspectives; that nothing is handed to you and you have to become enveloped in the story to understand the context. It is fantastical and tragic; beautifully written.

This book is a wild ride. It's basically buzzfeed unsolved/ghost files meets dateline. It's full of dark comedy until the end and there's a lot of foreshadowing and chekhov's guns throughout the novel.
