Closing Notice

As you might remember from one of our Bookseller notes a few months ago, we are in the final weeks before welcoming another little bookseller into our family. We had planned to close the shop while taking a maternity leave, and holding a sale to clear some inventory beforehand. 

While that plan is still very much in place, we've decided, after a lot of consideration and difficult number-crunching, that the shop will instead permanently close after June 25. 2026 has been an incredibly difficult year for our business, with slower sales and an enormous influx of AI-driven fraudulent orders. In the last week alone, we've had zero real orders, and 27 fake ones. This has meant that keeping the shop open has become financially impossible as we rely on weekly sales to keep things running. 

We had every intention of taking some weeks off to enjoy our new baby and return later in the summer to bring you more strange and wonderful books, but it wasn't meant to be. I'm sure I don't need to say how devastating that is for me personally, as this little bookshop has been one of the greatest joys and proudest accomplishments of my life since we opened in 2023. I have loved being your bookseller, bringing new books into your lives, and supporting authors whose work didn't receive the same kind of marketing budgets as those on the bestseller table. I've gotten to know so many of you through your reading tastes, your incredibly kind messages, and your unwavering support. And while part of me feels I'm letting you down, I know this is the right next step for our family.

I hope that one day in the future books will return to my life in some way. I hope you keep reading the strange books relegated to forgotten corners of your local bookstore. I hope you continue to give indie authors and small presses a chance. I have no doubt the book world is a slightly better place for having each one of you in it, championing the unusual and overlooked.

In light of all this, the remaining inventory in the shop will be on major sale through June 25. 40% off all full price items, and an extra 20% off sale items. All sales will be final.
